What Inspires? Studios from the past and present and a nature story

My current studio at Pump Project in Austin. This is my favorite painting table. A hollow core door makes a great table. Easy to move.  All surfaces are potential palettes.

Plenty of sun!

Plenty of sun!

My home studio in south Austin 2007 – 2011. Love the sunlight, but the Texas heat was more challenging.

This is my 2003 -2006 studio in the old Masonic Temple in downtown Vallejo, CA. The stairs were steep and no elevator. (Four double sets). Nice light and a great way to get in shape!

I like to shoot close up local action on my smart phone. The colors, steady movements, and an entomological fascination inspire me. Look what these guys can do with some grit and determination. When I was six, I had a different reaction to ants. I had broken my leg and received an ant farm as a present. Insects were pretty icky for me. The ant farm spent time in our storage closet.

Thankfully, I’ve made a turn around. Yes, Texas Wood Cutting Ants can be role models.

Enjoy my Facebook movie.
